I've already covered a set of Team Group's 3000 MHz Night Hawk DIMMs, but the question was asked, do LEDs affect performance? I mean, RGB LEDs are simple devices, but without any added wires, what's the story here? Is there even a story? We're about to find out. TEAM NIGHT HAWK UD 16GB, for Team Group, is their high-end product line, one that focuses everything they know into bringing you one of the best-possible experiences, both in performance and reliability. The Team Group T-Force Night Hawk RGB sticks are optimized for ASUS ROG motherboards and support ASUS Aura Sync. That might limit who might be interested in these memory sticks, but if you have a compatible board and are into the whole RGB madness like I find myself being, then these sticks might be worth considering in your next build. DDR4 itself has been around for some time now, nearly three years. If I recall correctly, we were to expect speeds just over 4000 MHz, but not all manufacturers have gotten there yet, and the sticks that do cost a lot. With 3000 MHz speeds being common, we're about half-way through that journey (DDR5 projected for 2020?) and still most memory brands like Team Group have managed to keep things looking fresh and new as speeds have increased. This inclusion of RGB lighting, while something I personally asked for many times, apparently affects those going for extreme overclocking using things like LN2 for cooling, but what do these LEDs mean for us normal folk, other than fancy looks? For those actively hunting for a new set of DDR4 for a build, Team Group may not have even been on your radar. Typically, we think of four or five other makers before we even think back to Team Group, but they are actively trying to fix that perception, hopefully propelling them to the top of the list. Not only do they offer some slick looking sets of sticks for the gamers out there, but Team also carries a top-tier line of T-Force kits which not only look good but are geared for enthusiasts as well. We have tried a couple of kits from this series so far, like the Dark ROG and the Night Hawk, and both kits performed admirably and were highly recommended if you can find them. The latter kit, the Night Hawk has gone through a slight revision and is what has us discussing Team memory again. Today, we are looking at the T-Force Night Hawk RGB, which like many other kits have moved into multi-color lighting as a selling tool to drive you towards their products. We have in hand; the TF1D48G3000HCC16CBK sent as a dual channel kit for us to test with. Densities can be had with a pair of 8GB sticks or a pair of 16GB sticks, with speeds ranging from 2666MHz to 3200MHz, and timings are either 15-17-17-35 on the slower kits and 16-18-18-38 on the faster ones. Voltages range from 1.2V to 1.35V to run the XMP 2.0 profile correctly, and all kits come with a lifetime warranty. Something else to note about these kits is that while we will be showing off the black set, there is another version made white, both sporting thin orange accents. Since the new RAM is RGB LED backed, it only makes sense that it is also Aura Sync supportive, allowing users to take control of the coloration to be displayed.
